Cameron Douglas MS 96
Plush, expressive wine from renowned Central Otago estate
Amisfield has deserved reputation for a classy version of the classical Central Otago Pinot. It is rich and fruity but also concentrated and defined, with good depth and structure. Vibrant dark red fruits come with earthy dried herb and savoury notes, making this a clear expression of Central flavour.
Cameron Douglas MS reviews: Distinctive, varietal, earthy and mineral with a line of new French oak spice and barrel toast. Aromas and flavours include a classic Otago savouriness with bracken and crumbled stone outlined by dark cherry and fresh raspberry flesh, plum and then baking spices of vanilla and clove. Tannins add structure and plenty of mouthfeel as does the acidity. A wine still very youthful and developing slowly, but also complex and lengthy. One for the cellar with best drinking from mid to late 2024 through 2034+.
Deeply scented pinot noir with floral, red rose, cassis, ripe plum and dark cherry flavours. Intense, sumptuous wine with a firm structure and a lengthy finish. Good now but should develop well with time.
Drink 2022–2030.
