From Spain's Toro wine region, Numanthia 2016 is a smoky, sensuous and satisfying 100% Tempranillo velvety on the palate with layers of smoky cherry, red berry, wild herb, dried sweet tobacco leaf, black pepper, cinnamon, clove and cedar spice. Acidity is balanced and tannins are ripe and velvety on this lovely maturing Tempranillo. Numanthia is located in the Toro wine region of Spain. Its four vineyards are located along the south bank of the Duero River. The wine is so named for a Spanish city that was destroyed (after 20 years of resistance) by the Roman legions. Good now, better in 2023 or hold in cellar for five-plus years.
